piCture pOlish Blog/Insta Fest 2014

Hello everybody! I haven’t been painting my nails for about the past 2 months as I’ve been really busy with work and packing to move(my family is moving on the 27th aug!!!). But I made some time for something really exciting!

That’s right! I had the honours of participating in this year’s PP blog fest! 😀 PP is one of my favourite polish brand and I’m really happy to be doing this. This year we were given 1 polish to swatch and 2 other polishes+nail vinyls to do nail art with. Really challenging as no other form of nail art is accepted, nail art should only be done with nail vinyls!

Okay so here’s part 1!

The polish that I was given to swatch is Darcy! For those of you who don’t know, Darcy was formally Ozotic Pro 623 and is re-released under PP. Darcy is a lovely black scattered holo with a smooth as butter formula! A thin coat and another to touch up is all it needs! For those who prefer painting thicker coats, you’ll be delighted to know that it is possible for it to be a one coater!! 😀 Don’t you think Darcy on the nails gives you an effortless galaxy?

And now, unto part 2!

For part 2, I was given Lizzie(re-release of Ozotic Pro 606), Fairy Gloss and straight nail vinyls from http://nailvinyls.com/ I had a hard time thinking what should I do because this is not a colour combi I will usually choose! I decided to go with something simple, time is not exactly on my side so I don’t have time for more complicated designs! In the end, I love it! I was inspired by candy canes for this cause the colour combi looks really sweet to me and I’m glad it turned out lovely. This design was also made much easier with the help of nail vinyls. They were really easy to use and were sticky enough to stay on the nails but not too sticky that it took my base colour off when I peel it!

Nail Art: Flappy Bird

Hello girls (& boys)! I’m back with nail art for you today. 🙂

THIS. is the app that is driving people crazy everywhere. It’s a simple game really, you control the bird by tapping on the screen. One tap= one flap. The objective of this game is to pass through as many pipes as possible. Sounds easy doesn’t it? But it’s more challenging when you actually try it, you have to get the momentum going so you wouldn’t crash into the (damn) pipes.

For those of you who have the app installed- good for you! (or not if it drives you nuts lol) But for those who want to download it now, I’m sorry. The game has been taken off stores and the reason- I’ve no idea.

ANYWAY, back to the main topic- nail art. Seeing that flappy bird is so popular (and it seems easy to paint) I have to attempt some flappy bird nail art!

So first, I started with painting my nails blue to mimic the background. This stunner here is Zoya Robyn- 2 coats with top coat. Super gorgeous bright blue that is easy to paint, major love. But note that this colour does stain slightly so double up on the base coat! The stain came off my nails after half a day though so it’s not a major turn off.


I paint my nail art using acrylic paint if any of you are wondering. Much easier to control and you can just scratch it off. The stupid bird took me 3 tries!!!!! This is my 2nd try and I think it looks retarded. I overestimated my ability and drew everything too small. -.-

Finally, on the 3rd try my flappy bird looks okay! *wipes sweat off forehead*

TA DAAAA~ The final look with top coat. So so glad I managed to not make the bird look retarded.

Here’s another shot with my thumb! In case you thought I didn’t have a thumb. HA.

Swatches: Love Thy Polish

Hi, I’m Gladys from sunny Singapore! I’ve been posting swatches and nail art on my instagram account @glairdees(follow me heh!) for awhile now and decided to stop procrastinating and start up a blog so I can share more pictures and give more information. I’m really thankful that Emma, the owner of Love Thy Polish gave me this chance to swatch her polishes. 🙂
Enough of the rambling and to the pictures!

Synthesize & One Small Step for Man

Look at how strong the holo is indoors! It’s so strong that both polishes look alike here, but I assure you can tell the colour difference on the nails. 🙂

This two is part of the Speckled n’ Frecked collection. The purple looks really blue here but it’s a lovely grape purple!

Synthesize (direct sunlight)

First up is Synthesize, a lovely dark purple holo. This polish is amazing!!! Unlike colour club’s holo polishes, this polish is forgiving on the brush strokes. This is two coats with no base or top coat. It dries really fast but I’ll suggest you put on a top coat if you want this polish to last- who wouldn’t want something so lovely to last!

If any of you are wondering if using a top coat will cause the holo to be more dull, no worry at all! I applied top coat on my thumb and look- the holo is just as strong. 😀

Remember what I said about this polish is forgiving on brush strokes? This polish is just as lovely not being under direct sunlight 🙂

One Small Step for Man (direct sunlight)

Next up, One Small Step for Man with no base or top coat as well. This is a true black holo polish, something I’ve been looking for!!!! The other black holos I have is either not black enough or not holo enough so I’m really really glad to receive this. This polish also the first polish Emma released and she is re-releasing due to popular demand! I can totally understand the demand for it. 🙂

I top coat-ed my thumb as well for this swatch and the holo is just as vibrant.

Now for the two polishes from the Speckled n’ Frecked collection.

Berry Berry Purple (indoor lighting)

This is Berry Berry Purple, a speckled purple jelly! This is not colour accurate cause the iphone is not capable of capturing purples, it is actually more of grape purple. It looks really dark in the bottle but it’s much more vibrant on the nails. This is 4 thin coats with 1 coat of top coat.

This is not my favourite photo(too much reflection, damn you buildings!) but I am sharing it with you girls because this is the most colour accurate.

Southern Sky (outdoor w/o sunlight)

And finally, this is Southern Sky, a speckled light blue crelly. This took 3 thin coats and 1 coat of top coat for this creamy, glossy look! I love how this blue doesn’t give me lobster hands. Some pastel shades do give me lobster hands so I’m really glad this doesn’t.
